Why Guardian Migizi Exists
We began with a simple mission: protect Indigenous Elders, families, and communities in a way that honours tradition and dignity.
Over time, that mission has taken us into new and urgent roles, from overseeing evacuees in Thunder Bay, Niagara Falls, and Kapuskasing, to providing on-the-ground crisis response in remote First Nations.
“It’s not just about language, it’s about recognition. When an Elder hears someone speak English in an Ojibway accent, they can follow. But when they hear English in a distant or unfamiliar accent, even simple words can feel out of reach.”
– Jack McKay, CEO
